Karl Schwiesow is an interdisciplinary artist and works in a variety of media. He has a background in carpentry and furniture design, sculpture, ceramics, a variety of 2-dimensional media, including photography. Karl holds a Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from Sierra Nevada College and a Masters of Fine Art from the University Of Montana. He has been an artist in residence at a variety of prestigious ceramic artist residencies including the Red Lodge Clay Center, Sonoma Community Center, and the Archie Bray Foundation. Karl's art is informed through a variety of investigations into aesthetics and design through notions of counter-function and parallel semiotic mutations. He is currently educator teaching a variety of fine art classes at the University of Montana Western and a practicing studio artist.
